Private Lesson Payment Policies

The policies of Santa Monica Academy of Music have been established to assure consistency and continuity of study. All students are required to abide by them.

1. Commitment to private lessons is for the entire month. Tuition is to be paid in full whether or not all classes are attended.*

2. Payment for the month is due by the 1st of the month. Payments received after the 3rd of each month are subject to a $15.00 late fee.

3. Paid lessons can be made up by the students only if at least 24-hour notice is given to the Academy prior to the scheduled lesson. The students is permitted to make-up the lesson within 21 days of cancelled lesson date. The scheduling of make-up lessons is the students responsibility to instigate Payment from a student cancellation cannot be applied to the next month's regularly scheduled lesson time.

4. "No-Shows" or lessons cancelled (by the student) within 24 hours of the lesson time cannot be made up. This includes cancellations due to illness..

5. If a cancellation by your instructor or the Academy occurs, payment can be carried into the next calendar month, or if you prefer, a make-up lesson can be scheduled to the next month's regularly scheduled lesson time.

6. A non-refundable Registration Fee of $30.00 is charged per family each October. This will be pro-rated for each new student throughout the year.

7. Students are expected to arrive on time for all private lessons. In deference to subsequent private students, lessons will end at the tardy students scheduled time.

8. The Academy reserves the right to discontinue lessons of any student because of lack of interest, frequent absence (more than three consecutive lessons), frequent tardinesss, behavioral problems or failure to abide by Academy policies.

*Special per-lesson payment options, at a higher hourly rate, is available during Summer quarter only.

Group Lesson Enrollment and Payment Policies

1. Commitment is for the entire sesson. Class payment is to be paid in full whether or not all classes are attended.
2. Sorry, there are no credits for missed classes.
3. Your payment for the class is the insurance that your child is enrolled.
Placement cannot be held for students without payment for the class.

4. Tuition paid is non-refundable and cannot be applied to any other session.

5. The Academy reserves the right to cancel a class due to lack of minimum enrollment. If a class is cancelled due to lack of enrollment the remainder of session payment will be refunded.

6. If a teacher is absent and a substitute cannot be provided you will either recieve a refund or the class session will be extended.

7. There is a minimal non-refundable materials and registration fee for each class. The amount varies per type of class.
